La Lubina es un pez que se puede encontrar desde las costas de Noruega hasta las de Senegal, se distribuye en todo el mar Negro, siendo posible avistarlo a su vez en el Océano Atlántico y Mar del Norte.

Es un pez de hábitos nocturnos, que gusta mucho de habitar en zonas rocosas, arenosas e incluso fangosas, razón por la cual puede también ubicarse en pasajes de pantanos (claro está, en menor cantidad).
Para poder identificarla, hay que tomar en cuenta que se trata de un pez de cuerpo alargado, cuya mandíbula inferior dispone un alargamiento más prominente, que la hace sobresalir de su cabeza, la cual es de un color más oscuro que su cuerpo, y que le proporciona un aspecto puntiagudo.
Su tono de piel es verde, grisáceo o plateado y en el vientre mantiene una tonalidad más suave, que lo hace ver traslúcido; por otra parte, tiene dos aletas, una inferior pequeña, mientras que la aleta superior tiene forma puntiaguda como si se trata de espinas filosas.
La alimentación del pez lubina se basa en crustáceos de pequeño tamaño, que puede capturar con sus filosos dientes e ingerir inmediatamente. Se caracteriza por ser uno de los peces con buen apetito, constantemente está al acecho de sus presas.
Científicamente, se le conoce como Dicentrarchus labrax, nombre que se le da a razón de su aspecto y hambre pertinaz, la cual desarrolla constantemente, aunque por las noches es más voraz para su caza.
Comúnmente también se conoce la Lubina como róbalo, robaliza (por lo escurridiza que puede ser cuando se encuentra en remansos y entre las olas), como también puede dominarse como lobina (nombre que se debe a su hambre voraz y su apariencia de lobo nocturno).
El pez lubina forma parte de los Moronidae o morónidos, son peces de escasa longitud, que se encuentra en aguas templadas, siendo su aparición en las costas y en las superficies.
La lubina no es un pez de prominente tamaño, de hecho, esta puede alcanzar en su adultez apenas los 60 centímetros, y su peso puede llegar a superar los 12 kilos, en el caso de los machos que ya nadan en solitario.

Otros nombres comunes son: Róbalo o Lobina.

Pesca de la Lubina
La lubina se puede pescar con facilidad por medio de cañas, ya que ésta, como te hemos indicado antes, suele presentarse en las orillas, por esta razón es que basta con la colocación de dos cañas a escasos metros.
Reviste de gran importancia la colocación de los anzuelos debidos, que deben tratarse de anchoas frescas o moluscos pequeños vivos, porque estos despertaran con mayor facilidad el hambre pertinaz de las mismas.
¿Cuándo resulta recomendable la pesca de lubina?
La lubina es un pez que puedes encontrar en cualquier época del año, sin embargo, es más común que puedas lograr una pesca segura en los meses de otoño e invierno sin inconvenientes.
Durante esta temporada ocurre el apareamiento, el cual sucede en actos cerca de la superficie. Como también es frecuente la emigración de los bancos más jóvenes, que se realizan con cercanía a las costas y afluencia de olas.
Los cebos para las lubinas deben estar vivos, los cuales, al ser atravesados con el anzuelo, expelerán sangre y junto a su movimiento las atraerán con fuerza. Lo más favorable para la pesca de Lubina es aprovechar los remolinos de las olas, donde tienden a concentrarse en cardúmenes.
